2022 came, shook our worlds and passed and this is the year of our good Lord, 2023. New year resolutions have been made and goals inevitably set: “By the end of this year, I want to hike Kilimanjaro.” Go get em! Don’t limit yourself in your dreams, that’s where the makings of brilliance start. But what is a vision board and why is it important to have one?
“I have lots of things to prove to myself. One is that I can live my life fearlessly.”
Oprah winfrey
A vision board in short is a graphic representation of your goals, a manifestation of the things you want and a daily motivation to relentlessly pursue your goals.
A guide, a compass, a reminder.
In all my years, I have never made a vision board and I don’t think I have a solid reason as to why, but seeing as this is my big year, I decided to constantly remind myself that I have dreams to catch and a soft life to live.
Your areas of interest
When you wrote (will write) your yearly/quarterly goals, you had (will have) areas of your life you would like to laser focus on and others you just want to improve on: self care and wellness, health and fitness, education, work, business etc. I find it important to take time to visualise your life and how exactly you want it to look like in the time frame you have set, down to the last most insignificant looking detail. Your vision board is where you put that picture, that quote you want to live by, those places you want to visit!
I am rooting for scaling my businesses, getting more traffic on my YouTube channel, more subscribers on my YouTube channel and other work goals. All that should reflect on my vision board. The way I want things to move and be for me should be visible on there first, a physical manifestation on all that I see in my deluded head.
Making my vision board
For my 2023, I am focusing on my businesses, my creative hobbies and my career in Microbiology. Those are the ones I have laser focus on, and on the other hand I also want to work on a growth mindset which I feel aligns with my primary goals. I want to work on my work and life balance, taking care of my physical and mental self and being present in my life everyday.
My vision board looks like this:

A collage of all I want to see myself achieve and become, a physical manifestation of some of my 2023 resolutions. This also happens to be my Lock Screen and Home Screen, a reminder to myself of the things my heart desires to see to fruition.
In summary:
- More orders
- Vlogging equipment
- Market stalls
- A bookshelf
- A knitting machine
- Contracts/Collaborations
- Book launch(es)
- More money
Travelling is not a big focus area for me this year although I would jump on every chance to see the world if it presents itself. I am in no way telling the universe I am not open to boarding planes and trains, I am. It’s just secondary.
I made my vision board using Canva, a very very useful and efficient tool for designs. It has thousands of templates you can choose from and find a style that suits and sits well with you. My plan is to have my vision board printed and framed, it would look lovely on my desk!
Set those goals, don’t limit yourself, be shameless in pursuing your outrageous goals and enjoy every moment. You deserve happiness and you deserve to fulfil your dreams, burn bright with passion and blaze your own path!
With all my heart,
A girl who dreams in colours yet to be discovered.
